چکیده
This paper deals with the determination of wake-function, impedance and energy loss due to surrounding accelerator components two countermoving beams, i.e., beams moving in opposite directions. Differently from classical case, distance between source test charges cannot be considered constant. The defines a generalized independent particle's direction motion. From this wake-function wake-potential is derived. focuses particular on longitudinal direction. expression dissipated by transiting same vacuum chamber obtained. valid both comoving beam scenario. Subsequently, proposed model benchmarked calculating co wake-functions, corresponding impedances wake-potentials for simple geometries (a circular pipe pillbox cavity) traversed comparing results ones electromagnetic code CST Studio Suite. Finally, geometry, their rf-heating are investigated.

Energy loss of intergalactic pair beams: Particle-in-Cell simulation
Aims. The change of the distribution function of electron-positron pair beams determines whether GeV photons can be produced as secondary radiation from TeV photons. We will discuss the instabilities driven by pair beams. Methods. The system of a thermal proton-electron plasma and the electron-positron beam is collision free. We have, therefore, used the Particle-in-Cell simulation approach. It...
متن کاملWake and Impedance
We begin with interactions of particles that moving with constant velocity in free space. If the material walls are far from the particles, their effect in the first approximation can be neglected. Let us consider a leading particle of charge q moving with velocity v, and a trailing particle of unit charge moving behind the leading one on a parallel path at a distance s with an offset x, as sho...
متن کاملOptimal Transport of Low Energy Particle Beams*
*Supported by DOE and ONR The transport and matching problem for a low energy transport system is approached from a control theoretical viewpoint. We model the beam dynamics and transport section using the KV envelope equations. To this model we apply the principles of optimal control to formulate techniques which aid in the design of the transport and matching section. The techniques are appli...

متن کاملWo19.2 Wake Generation and Energy Transfer Relating to the Transport of Intense Relativistic Particle Beams in an Underdense Plasma
A short, intense particle beam can drive a very large amplitude plasma wave or wakefield. The longitudinal component of the wakefield results in energy loss of the bulk of the beam and gain of the particles in the beam tail. First, a systematic investigation of the longitudinal fields excited in a plasma by a short, dense beam of electrons or positrons is carried out using two-dimensional, cyli...
